sony-vaio-w11s1eThe Sony VAIO W11S1E was previously available from PC World in the UK for delivery only. Collection from store wasn’t possible and now ordering it, isn’t at all. Not from PC World anyway. Those following the direct link to the 10 inch netbook from Sony will find themselves redirected to the netbook page, with no sign of any Sony netbook in sight.

It is however, still available from Amazon.co.uk. All color models are still currently in stock from £330.

As with many expensive and desirable gadgets, the Sony Vaio P is the latest go have a cheaper model clone made. The Vaio P clone, Vaino at first glace appears very similar in appearance to the real thing, but based on the measurements alone, it’s clear that it isn’t a true Vaio. Instead the measurements make the netbook less Vaio P shaped and more netbook shaped with it’s 250 x 185 x 31mm dimensions.

The specs of the Vaino are pretty much what you’d expect from an average netbook, 10.2 inch display with a 1024×600 resolution, 1GB of RAM and 160GB hard drive. The Vaino also features a 1.3 megapixel web camera, Wifi and card reader.

As of yet there’s no information on just how much cheaper this netbook is.

sonyteaser

Following our report about the placeholder at the Sony site for a new lightweight VAIO netbook or notebook which eventually vanished after a couple of days, here we now some new teasers regarding the said new Sony Vaio machine.

UMPC Portal posted about this new teaser somewhere in Hong Kong about a new Vaio laptop. The teaser (see image) was hinting on a lightweight Vaio unit with reference to an envelope. Although it may seem an outright attack on Apple’s MacBook air, we couldn’t help but wonder how Sony is going to market this rumored machine. As a MacBook Air rival or a netbook entrant?

Anyway, Netbooknews.de managed to get some more specs of the new Sony Vaio from a reliable sources. These specs include, 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z250 CPU, 2GB RAM, HDD with optional SSD, GPS and UMTS. This mysterious Sony Vaio is expected to retail for around $970!

sonyvaiopseries

A couple of days ago, some rumors started to grow regarding a Sony teaser about a new laptop series. Then just awhile back, jkOnTheRun through a tip from a reader found out about this product placeholder about a new Sony VAIO series that goes by the monicker “P”.

The P laptop series has the following specs which are obviously very “netbook-ish”:

  • 1.3 GHz Intel Atom processor
  • 8-inch LED Backlit Display
  • 60 GB HD or 128 GB SSD
  • Windows Vista

Not the most impressive of specs that we’ve seen on a netbook product but considering that it’s from Sony, expect to see a peculiar characteristics on the netbook’s form factor when it comes out.

So, is this the Sony VAIO Netbook? We really couldn’t wait to find out.
