Sony has officially launched its latest 11.6-inch notebook in its line-up, the VAIO YB VPCYB49KJ. This notebook is built on AMD A50M FCH chipset, which allows this notebook to handle as many tasks that any average person would do.

The VAIO YB VPCYB49KJ operates on AMD E-450 processor chip clocked at 1.65GHz. This is supported by 2GB DDR3 RAM memory as well as a 640GB hard disk.

Additional features on this new machine include an 11.6-inch display with 1366 x 768 screen resolution. It also sports a webcam as well as an SD card slot for easy portable storage access. For its connectivity, the VAIO YB VPCYB49KJ WiFi capable and supports wireless trandfers via bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. The machine will run on Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit (SP1) as the operating-system of choice.

The VAIO YB VPCYB49KJ will be sold for around 90,000 Yen, or US$1,181. Shipping dates are not posted, but it should be out any time, soon.

Sony has launched a new notebook named VPC-EH1M1E/W.G4. It is a new 15-inch model with rippled surface design.

It is a new model of Sony E series that has an unusual design. It is based on rippling surfaces. This notebook looks best in black. It is designed for a universal outlook and is made suitable for Internet and office use and as well as for watching videos or playing games in it.

COMPONENTS:

It has an Intel Core i32310M processor. This is an entry-level processor designed by Sandy Bridge generation. It is accompanied by 4 GB DDR3 RAM and a 500 GB hard drive. This notebook also has a dedicated graphics card by Nvidia, the Geforce 410M. This memory card has 1024 of video memory. It also has a 1.5-inch HD screen with a high glossy look that can display a resolution of 1366 X 768 pixels

STRUCTURE:

The honeycomb pattern of the model catches one’s attention immediately. If this model is help up to the light the surface shimmers because of its glossy look. But there is no question of fingerprints or dust marks on the body. The body is well built. The white display lid is easy to open. The big plus of this model is that the display stays in the desired position even if it is adjusted. Its base unit seems to be just a robust. It is also accompanied by a well built laptoo which matches the design of the notebook and also has recessed touch pad in the palm rest area.

It has four USB ports of 2.0 type. There are two ports for controlling external monitors, an HDMI and a VGA port as well on the left hand side. On the right hand side a DVD burner is placed for recording dual-layer media. It also has a RJ45 Gigabit LAN port, two audio ports and two cared readers as well on the front side.

KEYBOARD:

The keyboard takes the whole length of the keyboard and includes a separate number block. The keys are well spaced and easy to use. Typing on it is a very pleasant experience. Above the keyboard there are three special function keys. One activates the Quickweb while the laptop is switched off. The key named VAIO starts up the Media Gallery and the third one mared as Assist starts Vaio Care 6.4.

Below the keyboard is the touch pad. It supports multi-touch input and gestures. Working on the touch pad is convenient. Below the touch pad there are two muttons which represent the two mouse clicks.

WARRANTY: 

It has a 12-month warranty that can be extended with the Vaio Warranty Extension.

Sony’s latest netbook offering, the VAIO M is now being stocked by US retailers.  Listed as the VPCM111AX/W, it’s currently available to order from TigerDirect for $379.99, who have it in stock ready to ship. J&R also have the netbook listed for pre-order at 99 cents less. Both companies only have the white model but, hopefully the black model will follow soon.

J&R currently have the VAIO M listed with a display resolution of 1366 x 768, which is incorrect and should be amended soon. The VAIO W on the other hand does feature that resolution, for a not so budget friendly price.

While the Sony Vaio W12S1E1 may have been out for a couple of months now, over in the UK the netbook, according to SonyBrands has been hard to find in stores. The Vaio W netbook has been released in several variants, including a 160GB model, a 250GB model, an Intel Atom PineTrail model and an eco friendly version. SonyBrands have got hold of the VAIO W12S1E1, the second model to be announced, which features a 250GB hard drive, 1GB RAM, Windows 7 Starter and Intel Atom N280 processor.

The VAIO W12S1E1 is available in white, pink, brown and charcoal, with the model unboxed being the white version. It has a 6 cell battery, which is shown on the netbook and sticks out but, looks like it will allow sufficient airflow. You can view the unboxing photos after the jump.

Remember how we told you the Sony Vaio W was no longer available from PC World? Well it may be because Sony are releasing an updated model. Like we previously told you, the VAIO W11S1E is still available on Amazon for £330-£332 but now, a new model, the W12S1E is also showing up at Amazon.

The W12S1E features pretty much the same specs as the previous model with a couple of changes. The new model will run Windows 7 Starter instead of Windows XP but, the main change and probably the reason for the new model number, is the hard drive size. The W12S1E will feature a 250GB HDD instead of 160GB. The extra hard drive space and newer operating system will cost you an extra £70 though. The netbook is available to pre-order for £399 in white, tan and pink. Release date is November 10th.

Sony’s first official netbook, the Vaio W had previously been spotted for pre-order Stateside on both Amazon and Best Buy. However at the time, neither site had a definite release date for the netbook. As of now, the netbook is available from both retailers. Best Buy have the netbook in white, pink and brown for $499.99. All models are available online but not for store pick up. Amazon on the other hand only have the pink model available to order but as of writing they only have two available.

In the UK it’s pretty much the same. PC World has the Vaio W netbook in all three colors but, likewise, the netbook is only available to order online and not collection from store. The price ranges from £374.97 for the white, to £381.26 for the brown and pink. Amazon UK appear to have all colors in stock for around the same price.

Quick confession: I’m a fan of Sony’s instant-on mode for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. With a push of a button, I can go ahead and access all my favorite games and media in mere seconds. So I was a bit surprised and glad to hear that Sony has implemented the same technology on the Sony Vaio P. The Vaio P’s instant-mode gives users the ability to browse the Web on a Firefox-based web browser, access photos, videos and music, make VoIP calls with a built-in version of Skype, and chat with their buddies using the inbuilt Pidgin instant messenger. While there are three different configuration of the Sony Vaio P available all over the world, recently published benchmarks show that these don’t differ much in reality. They’re only remarkable differences, in fact, lie in their disk drives instead of their differently configured Atom processors. You can use the above pictured stats for reference. You might be looking forward to surfing the ‘net with 3G speeds once your very own Sony Vaio P arrives at your doorstep, but know this: for US models, the Sony Vaio P’s 3G SIM Card slot is non-functional. It’s not broken, it’s just that Sony’s decided to disable it for some reason. When you try to take a look at it, you’ll see that it is blocked by a piece of plastic across it. Taking this out requires a bit of patience and a sharp object like an x-acto knife. And even then, you won’t be able to use it. Way to give its users another kick in the arse, right? Yep, apparently, charging nearly $1000 for a small device that can’t be called a “netbook” wasn’t enough.
