What’s different this time round however is that this model lists an Intel 622ANXHMW card. This means it’s a WiMAX card with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Other details show that the netbook is manufactured by Lenovo’s OEM partner Quanta Computer Inc, which comes as no surprise.

The listing also notes the the ThinkPad Mini 10 and 11 next to the X100 series. Both are listed under “Lenovo (Japan) Limited” which WirelessGoodness note, could mean they’re just regional variations of the X100 platform. Release information on the WiMAX models is currently unknown, nor is shipping information.

Dell have already launched their Mini 10 with WiMax, however that was the older model, with an Intel Atom N270 CPU. The updated Inspiron Mini 10, with the PineTrail CPU will also be updated to include WiMAX. Clear will be providing the 4G service for the netbook. The WiMAX enabled version is due to start shipping from April 1st. It also appears that, the netbook may not be available direct from Dell, as Clearwire have said it will only be available “through select Clear retail locations, telesales and Clear.com.”

The WiMAX enabled Mini 10 will set you back $250 after rebate. There’s no information on how much per month the tariff will be but, it’s likely to be $40 based on other netbooks.

Netbooks seem to be the perfect size device for women – it’s small, portable and now comes in attractive colors. The small keyboard also bothers females less than males with their pudgy fingers.

Fujitsu realized this and updated the skin of their round-edged MH380 netbook. It now has hearts and pinkness all over, though the spec sheet for other features is the same as before.

Fujitsu MH380

10.1″ 1366×768 display

1.66GHz Intel Atom N450

1GB RAM

250GB HDD

Windows 7 Starter

802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, WiMax

3 x USB, VGA port, card reader, audio jacks

6-cell battery (5 hour battery life)

Weight: 1.2kg

It’s available in Japan only as far as I know. One thing it seems to be missing and hinting at is a Hello Kitty emblem. Fujitsu seemed to have missed the point that this should be lighter than 1kg if you’re targeting the female market.

Dell has just release a new version of its Mini 10 netbook and it is now available at the Dell Online Store. What’s interesting about this new Dell Mini 10 version is the fact that you can configure it with a WiMAX 6250 card just by adding extra $60 to its starting price of $279.

Aside from WiMAX capability, nothing much has been changed to the Dell Mini 10′s specs though. You still get the same netbook with 1.66GHz Intel Atom N250 CPU, 10.1-inch display, 1.3MP webcam, 1GB of RAM, 160GB of HDD, Windows 7 Starter Edition and 3-cell battery.

If you want to have a 3G modem loaded you can pay extra $125 if in case WiMAX is not available in the area where you are located.

You may grab the Dell Mini 10 with WiMAX option from here.

There are certainly no lack of devices out there that turn USB 3G modems into WiFi hotspots but this one is a bit different. The Wi-Reach Classic allows you to just plug in your modem and you can share your connection with other netbooks anywhere since it’s battery-powered.

Of course there are cheaper alternatives like tethering your mobile phone or sharing your netbook’s WiFi but alternatives like the SIMFi and Wi-Reach aim to simplify your life. No more need to setup stuff just to let your neighbor use your 3G internet and it makes file sharing within a network (or network gaming for that matter) a snap.

The Wi-Reach is capable of connecting up to ten computers and the built-in battery recharges via USB so theoretically it can work as long as it’s plugged to your netbook. Stand-alone battery operation still gives five hours of continuous use so if you want to browse using a MID, UMPC or iPod Touch, it has you covered. The device can support LTE, WiMAX and will add 4G support soon. Grab one for $99 from Connect One.

Now, this isn’t any formal announcement yet when and how much it will sell for but it’s a great start if you want to future-proof your netbook.

WiMAX is not yet as widespread as 3G is in most parts of the globe but it’s getting there. WiMAX has a longer range than WiFi and can deliver 10Mbps over the air. We probably have to wait a bit for this since it just launched the base model of the new Dell Inspiron Mini earlier this year.

A recent filing at the FCC shows a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 with WiMAX. Other information from the filing, indicates the other features of the netbook will be pretty much the same, as the other Dell Mini 10 models, including 10.1 inch display, 1GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive. It’ll also come with Windows 7 Starter and the new Intel Atom N450 Pine Trail processor. Likewise, WiFi and Bluetooth will also be included.

It’s not clear at the moment, whether Dell plan to sell the netbook unlocked, or if they will partner with a WiMAX provider, such as CLEAR or Sprint. How soon we can expect to see WiMAX as an option is also unknown for now.
