A new tablet called the Tainell U-Touch 500 joins the long list of portable computers available today. However, before it gets dismissed as just another tablet PC, this device offers a slightly different form factor. It is reminiscent of the early Ultra Mobile Personal Computers or UMPCs, but upgraded to meet the needs of today’s users.
This device sports a 5.0-inch display with touch panel and a 1024 x 600p resolution. It runs on an Intel Atom Z530 Paulsbo processor clocked at 1.6 GHz. It also comes with 2 GB of RAM and a Solid State Disk with a capacity of 64 GB. Windows 7 is its Operating System.
It also features a 1.3 megapixel camera, a full size USB port, a mini USB port, and and audio and microphone jack. The audio on the device is High-Definition compliant. The device is powered by a 4 cell 2400mAh battery. The connectivity options available are Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, and WCDMA.
The mobile computer’s interface also comes with a mouse button at the left plus a few more on the right for other input.
The Tainell U-Touch 500 is currently available for pre-order. Unfortunately, its price is not yet available. Interested consumers may opt to subscribe for updates on the device through e-mail.
