ASUSTEK/
Over the past few days there have been rumors of upcoming Asus Eee PC price hikes, which could ultimately take away the Eee PC's status as a low-cost ultraportable. ASUS CEO Jerry Shen has stepped up to the plate to clarify a few things, and in doing so he has clarified most of what's been rumored about the price hikes. Jerry says that prices for Eee PCs will indeed rise in the future, but this is not because of what the rumors indicate. Instead, Eee PCs will get more expensive simply because the machines are getting better and better (getting larger screens, more features, etc.). And you can't expect to have better hardware/software without paying up what it's worth. In any case, if Asus makes the prices of Eee PCs more expensive than what you would have preferred, then there are always other companies out there whose offerings might fit your budget. Remember Acer, Dell, HP, and MSI? Yep, problem solved.
