Abiword and GnuMetric. They support everything OO.O does, but its a more minimal interface. If you REALLY want fast though, learn TeX, you can just use your favorite text editor (VIM, Emacs, etc) to make your documents. It is pretty fast, and seems 100% compatible with word docs (even docxs). It has a much smaller footprint than either Microsoft Office or OpenOffice. Pretty slick.
