While MSI, Asus, Samsung and Dell have all announced upcoming netbooks powered by Intel’s new Atom N450 processor, Toshiba was missing in action. The company’s real plans with regards to releasing any Pinetrail Atom-equipped netbooks in the near future isn’t very clear, but based on documents posted on the FCC’s web site, it looks like Toshiba is planning to release an updated version of its NB205 netbook just like how Dell is doing with its Inspiron Mini 10. If not fitted with an Intel Atom N450 processor inside, you can at least expect the refreshed Toshiba NB205 to have a Qualcomm Gobi chip for wireless communication, which will enable it for use with EVDO or HSPA 3G networks. Perhaps it won’t be long before we hear word about this same netbook getting a carrier subsidy when it gets announced. Nothing is confirmed for the moment, though, so stay tuned for updates.
