Toshiba has just announced a new netbook series in Japan, and this time it will no longer bear the NB branding previously used by the NB100. The new Toshiba  netbook will be part of the new UX netbook series. And topping the netbook’s specs are an Intel Atom N280 1.66 GHz CPU, 1GB RAM and 160GB HDD.

Of course, the Toshiba UX netbook series would have a 10-inch display with 1024×600 native pixel resolution.  This new netbook will also have  longer battery life reacing as long as 4 hours.  This is a big improvement to the 2.9 hours battery life of Toshiba’s previous NB100 netbook.

The Toshiba UX netbook series is slated for release in Japan later this week. It will have a price tag of around £400. No words yet as to whether this netbook will be available

Despite its larger screen the new model is smaller, at 263×192x31mm and weighs between 1.2 and 1.3Kg depending on the configuration.

The UX series netbooks will be launched in Japan this week, although precise international launch dates have not been decided, said Toshiba. Prices are expected to start from £400.
