Right after the Asus netbook for kids dubbed Eee PC MK90 Netpal reached the FCC, it looks like there’s no stopping this kiddie netbook from reaching the US netbook market soon. In fact, Toys R’ Us, is already accepting pre-orders for the Eee PC Netpal, beating other netbook sellers such as Amazon and the other big names.

Oh well, since the Eee PC Netpal is geared for kids, it is but natural that Toys R’ Us should take the lead in making this netbok available in the market. The Eee PC MK90 Netpal will be available for $349.99 and shipment will start arriving on August 3.

Only one model will be available though – the metallic blue version. The Eee PC MK90 netpal boasts of an 8.9-inch display, Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB RAM, 16GB SSD, WiFi, 3 USB ports, 0.3 MP webcam and Windows XP OS. It will also have parental control features, quick access to Radio Disney, and some custom themes from Cars and Toy Story to entice the younger generation into using it.

Well I bought one of these netbook laptops for my 8 year old daughter for Christmas and I am not lying when I say that withing 10 minutes of booting this thing up and finishing the set up process, I already had 3 icons on my desktop promoting porno sites. Now.. granted it could have happened because of my something I might have done wrong…. but the reason that I am angry at ASUS is the lack of support that I got from them. I called a total of three times and the first 2 times they really did not know how to help me… they said that they will escalate the problem to a higher level tech. Next day I had not received a call back.. I called myself and was told by another tech to try to go into Recovery mode by pressing F9. We tried like 10 different times… by pressing f9, Shift f9, Right shift f9, etc. She came to the conclusion my computer could go into Recovery mode and since the issue was MALICIOUS SOFTWARE, the warranty did not cover that. I said, fine, but the fact that your pc does not got into recovery mode.. Shouldn’t that be covered by your warranty… and she just dismissively said no.. that not all computer might be able to go into recovery mode. She said, you have to run recovery mode from the CD provided… but wait…. these netbooks dont have cd/dvd roms… so in order to run cd/dvd i would have to buy an external drive, I check and they run from $40 to $80.
so.. bottom line the computer should be able to go into recovery mode, but the fact that this one doesn’t , its not their problem. Today is January 8th, and my daughter has not been able to play with her netbook yet.
    Disappointed with ASUS big time.
