Linux PC retailer ZaReason has introduced a new 10-inch netbook different from other netbooks in the market today for one big reason – it is preloaded with Ubuntu Linux OS.

Feature-wise, there’s not much difference between the Terra A20 netbook and other 10-inch netbooks available in the market today. You’d still get the usual 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, a 10-inch display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, 1GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, webcam, Wi-Fi and a battery pack that can last you up to 3.5 hours.

ZaReason is also offering some other configurations for the Terra A20 to make your machine more powerful than its standard configurations. So, you can opt to have 2GB RAM, add WCDMA 3G mobile, HDD upgrade up to 500GB HDD or 160GB SSD. But prepare to shell out extra bucks though to get this upgrades.  In addition ZaReason is also giving the option of getting the Terra A20 with an OS, but the price would remain the same though since after all, the Ubuntu Linux OS is a free software. Other flavors of Ubuntu such as Ubuntu 9.04, Kubuntu 9.04 and Edubuntu 9.04 are also available for you to choose.

The price of the standard model is set at $349. It comes in black and mocha flavors.

I e-mailed ZaReason explaining I’d like to purchase one, and asking them for a few additional details… like the dimensions of the dang thing. They ignored me.

A few moments ago, I purchased an Asus Eee for $667 which was inferior to the claimed specs of the Terra A20. But I wanted something that would run Ubuntu, and typically the only one I can count on to make this happen is me.

I was so in hopes that ZaReason was the Linux integrator to renew my faith. But it was not to be. Perhaps in the future.
